The **speed** of an object (e.g. vehicle / car) is calculated based on the distance to be traveled and the time required to do so. The formula for the calculation is therefore: **v = s / t**. It is therefore also given in distance/time, such as m/s or km/h.

**Use calculator:**

- Select whether you want to calculate the speed, the distance or the time.
- Enter the speed in m/s, the distance in meters or the time in seconds.
- Click on "generate" to get the result.

The speed calculator only takes into account constant speeds (uniform movement). Acceleration or uniform acceleration is not taken into account.

## Formula: Calculate speed

**Formula**: v = s / t

The distance (s) is given in meters. The time (t) is given in seconds. The speed (v) is therefore calculated in meters per second.

**Example calculation**: 2,000 m / 120 s = 16.6 m/s
